too extend my previous post, I want this jacket too for when I'm feeling a bit like strutting in a fabulous shiny, silver sleeved jacket.

Looks like I'm going to need a copious amount of chocolate, ice cream and repeated viewings of Moulin Rouge tonight, as soon as I get home to Gomanchester for the christmas break.

Blood Brother

I wish I had enough money to afford the clothes I really want. This beautiful black leather varsity jacket from Blood Brother is £350.00 - on the plus side if you use the code 'FREESHIP' you get free postage and packaging. ERGH, I just wish I could be some famous diva bitch that gets free clothes all the time.

And, if you can see it on one of my open tabs I am listening to the Come What May from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, emotional times when you can't afford clothes call for emotional songs from wondrous musicals, I suppose next I'll move on to the Dreamgirls soundtrack.

I've finally bought myself what I've been looking for, a tapestry jacket. It's so beautiful and wonderful and lovely and I'm so happy.

Maison Martin Margiela for H&M - Menswear

Lying in bed this sunday afternoon just browsing through designer sites in awe wishing I could actually afford the stuff I really want to buy when it suddenly hit me like a tonne of bricks, 'why not look at H&M's new collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela to see if there's anything in the menswear section I like?' So, that's just what I did. Only to find that in all brutal honestly there's only two products I actually like and would be willing to buy...

Long Sleeved Jersey T-shirt
Faux Fur Coat

I thought the jersey t-shirt was interesting because at a glance it looks knitted, but it has just a trompe l'oeil print that depicts a hand-knitted jumper. Seeing as I have an odd obsession with knitted jumpers this naturally caught my attention. Whereas the faux fur coat grabbed me simply because I love fur coats - whether good quality faux or vintage fur.

So, sadly it looks like I'm going back to scrolling through MR PORTER and designers own websites just dreaming about owning such wondrous clothes, such as this Acne jumper which I'll be begging my mother to buy me for christmas, unless someone who reads my blog wants to be really lovely and buy it for me, I'd be eternally grateful either way.

P.S. - I usually wear a medium but, seeing as it's sold out in that size, a large would be fine.

Hidden Heels...

When it comes to fashion I'm usually fairly open-minded, but if there's one thing I've seen a lot of recently that I absolutely can't stand it would have to be the "Hidden Heel" trainers. For the past few fashion seasons since Isabel Marant’s hidden heeled hi-tops hit the catwalk, the style of shoe has become one of the most-wanted shoe style in the world. The style has a huge celebrity following from small-scale celebrities such as Made In Chelsea’s Louise Thompson to the love of my life BeyoncĂ©.

The hidden heel claims to make your legs look longer whilst providing the same comfort as flat soled hi-tops. Something I just can’t fathom about these shoes are why would you want the heel to be hidden? In my opinion there’s no point of wearing heeled shoes if you can’t actually see the heel. I adore hi-tops owning quite a few pairs myself, and I absolutely love seeing a woman in heels, but my favourite part of heels is sound made when women walk on hard floors.

I just LOOOOOOVE the real housewives of New York, the women are so fabulous and it makes Epsom bearable.

"Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric."

- Bertrand Russell
Sitting with one of my best friends in Epsom, and we've been arguing over a news story on the Vogue website. Lana Del Rey is rumoured to be the new face of Versace, I am ecstatic about this rumour and I literally can't wait for it to be confirmed. Naturally, as opinions are subjective Lauren Reed disagrees, shouting at me "HOW CAN YOU LIKE HER?!" I guess this is just one thing we'll never agree on.

Thanks for reading.

As an industry, it could be claimed that fashion is one of the least accepting in the world however I can see both sides of the argument for i-D's "Diversity NOW!" campaign. On one hand you've got the desire to accept everyone no matter their age or size, many agree with this as something that could change how catwalk shows and editorial shoots are seen. Like all things in fashion you can see that this works on a cyclical basis as in the 1960's many became obsessed with shifting from iconic curvy women such as Marilyn Monroe to skinny, "boyish" body shapes like that of Audrey Hepburn, you can see aspects of this shift coming back in the opposite way.

One of my favourite current articles published in issue 215 of Dazed & Confused is that of "perennial  style queen" Iris Apfel explaining how she has been vital in elevating fashion to an art form. She is seen modelling the Autumn/Winter 2012 Comme Des Garcons collection, and in my opinion I think she looks fantastic. (Images shown below)

On the other hand, and in my personal opinion, editorial spreads and even more so catwalk shows should be seen as a dreamlike experience that no mere mortal can be included in, thus the use of beautiful, skinny, young models help to provide an escape. Almost like watching a film in which you are submersed into the characters deepest feelings through the use of nonsensical themes, cinematography and music. There are many examples I could use to emphasise my notion, from Alexander McQueen to Chanel, however this has to be one of my all time favourite catwalk shows.

Before I moved to Epsom to start my Fashion Journalism course at UCA the range of fashion magazines I read wasn't very broad, in fact, I only really read Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and LOVE, but recently I've been venturing into London more and buying a wider array of magazines. If I had to recommend two magazines from my selection below I would have to say that I Love You and Arena Homme Plus are my personal favourites.

I Love You is a magazine that focuses predominantly on female fashion and culture and is published online simultaneously as a blog edited by editor in chief Christiane Bördner. In smaller writing under the title it says "my printed blog" thus emphasising that the majority of the content features on the accompanying website, however the magazine has a few advertisement pages but not as many as other magazines on the market. The one thing I adore about this issue  is that it has a sense of empowering it's audience through bold text pages that drive home a sense of being true to yourself, such as these;

Arena Homme Plus is a menswear magazine, which isn't usually in my interest as I really enjoying women's fashion more, maybe it's my homosexual tendencies appearing because for some reason I can't stop flicking through this magazine, the photography really emphasises the beauty of the men. The magazine shares many similar aspects to Vogue, such as its vast amount of advertising and glossy pages, but Homme Plus article layout is more like something you'd see in Dazed & Confused. One aspect the magazine has that I've never seen in any other magazine is the inclusion of smaller, thinner pages inside that simply add more pictures to the already existing ones, which I really like. In comparison to GQ it focuses more on just fashion as opposed to lifestyle and culture as well.
